Roofing By Curry’s ‘Quality Assurance’ Shingle Roof Replacement Checklist

1. Permiting:

a.Receive signed proposal with color selections & Notice of Commencement signed & notarized.
b.File Notice of Commencement & permit application with the local county.
c.Receive all necessary permits to start job.
d. Complete specific job folder with signed proposal, owner information, copies of all documents, warranty information, company reports, directions, & checklists.
e. Schedule date with home owner to start job.
f. Order all job materials: shingles, underlayment, accessories, etc.
g. Contact home owner the day before starting to confirm our arrival.

2. Job Preparation:

a. Arrive to job on scheduled date with tools & materials.
b. Cover driveway; all garage doors, windows, & A.C. units.
c. Protect pool cages & open pools from any debris.
d. Cover & protect all vulnerable landscaping.
e. Trailer or container at job.
f. Set up Permit Box with Notice of Commencement, permits, and job specifications.
g. Place Company sign in front yard (if community allows).

3. Tear Off - Removal of Old Roof:

a. Schedule shingles & other materials to be delivered at a later date.
b. Remove all existing shingles down to original decking.
c. Remove gutters if specified by proposal.
d. Replace all rotted decking, wood, & fascia boards.
e. Re-nail entire roof deck to the current Florida Building Code with 8d 2-1/2” ring shank nails.
f. Replace all damaged or rusted wall flashings.
g. Install wall counter flashings where needed.
h. Install new roof underlayment (underlayment type per proposal).
i. Delivery of shingles & other needed materials.
j. Schedule all needed inspections.

k. Before leaving the job each day our crew will:
  • Secure all material on the roof.

  • Police site for loose papers or scraps.

  • Secure all waste in trailer or container.

  • Walk magnetic roller around perimeter of home to pick up any remaining nails.


  • 4. Installation of New Shingle Roof:

    a. Install aluminum eave metal to match existing fascia color (size 1-3/4” or 2-1/2” per proposal).
    b. Install 36” wide GAF/Elk Weather Watch peel n’ stick in all valleys.
    c. Seal & waterproof all existing & new wall flashings.
    d. Install GAF/Elk Weather Watch around all roof penetrations (20 yr. Golden Pledge Warranty only).
    e. Confirm correct shingle color, begin installation of new shingles (color to be determined by home owner).
    f. Shingles installed per manufacturers specifications, 6 nails per shingle using 1-1/4” galvanized nails.
    g. Install all roof ventilations (GAF/Elk Cobra Rigid Vent 3 installed by hand with 3” ring shank nails).
    h. Pass all required county or city inspections.
    i. Complete roof installation.

    5. Finish & Clean Up:

    a. Paint all roof penetrations to match new shingle color.
    b. Waterproof all new fascia boards with Kilz exterior primer/ sealer (we can paint the new fascia to match home if paint is available).
    c. Remove all coverings from garage, driveway, pool cages, etc.
    d. Check entire roof & home for any loose debris.
    e. Walk magnetic roller around perimeter of home to pick up remaining nails.
    f. Sweep driveway, sidewalks, patios, & porches under roofing areas.
    g. Double check all inspections have passed,.
    h. Remove permit box & company sign from front yard.
    i. Final walk through & clean up inspection.
